Traveling alone

Ok, right now, i am at the age where i could travel with parents or guardians. And thanks to that, i decided to travel alone for a change.
People have always tell me that travelling alone would be very dangerous as there is no one in the country that you would know if you went to a foreign country. So, here are some personal tips on travelling alone.

1) Booking plane tickets and finding hotels.
My personal favourite website that allows me to do both at once, is www.expedia.com. You could book plane tickets and hotels at better deals and it will remind you when you are about to fly off. I would also highly recommend that you download the app from google play or apply app store. Trust me, it is really useful and gives you information required without the hazel of going to your e-mail or website itinerary to find out information require for it.
Another great website to book for both is http://www.orbitz.com.
This website will be more towards savings for hotel rooms. So, if you were to just book plane tickets there, the website and me would definitely recommend you to book the hotels too.

2) Plane tickets.
When booking plane tickets online, you will not get and actual plane ticket mailed to your post box. And if you were to actually book from websites that gives you special deals, they would not event tell you about your e-ticket number from the e-mail that they send you. So, it is really important that once you have paid for your tickets and rooms, an e-mail is sent to you, you really would have to saved the email or itinerary and print it out for you flight day.
Nowadays, most of the plane company would be able to check-in online 2 and 1/2 days earlier using their app or the website.
However, there are also some cases where you will not be allowed to check-in via online. If that happen, you would have to go to the airport, for the flight company that your plane is operated by in the fast check-in counter to get your plane ticket. Then, you go to the check-in area and look out for the plane that you are going to fly indicated at the plane ticket. From there, you will know which gate to enter as sometimes, some of the plane ticket will not indicate the gate number on it.
After everything is checked and done, just sit back, relax and wait for your turn to enter the plane.

3) Hotel booking and staying.
There are lots of websites that would indicate saying that they are the lowest in town or stuff like that. So, it is really important to find one that allows you compare the price in one website. My personal favourite is www.trivago.com. Reason is that they will compare from a few websites and will show you the deal one. And if you are not satisfied with the one they recommend, you could go to all of the websites they compared from and choose one there. You could also filter what you need and what you would want from the hotel which is something that a lot of the other websites couldn't do. Most of the websites would require you to enter the selected hotel page to see what they offer. So this website would definitely save time in choosing the hotel.
When you reach the hotel, there are 2 ways to get your reversed room. First is tell them the name that you put the reservation on, the other would be to show them the printout of the confirmation e-mail to them.

4) Personal belongings.
I know that personal belongs are really important. So, it is important that you bring them with you. Such items are passport, identification cards (i.c), cash/cards and phones/tablets. So, it is recommended that you bring along a small bag with you when travelling so that you could keep those items near you. Also, if you choose to bring a backpack, it is wise that you pick one that have brackets. And if you were to bring a sling bag, it is wiser to wear it under a jacket, this way, it is much safer compare it with striping it on the outside.
Now, when you are staying on a hotel, it is better that you would keep important stuffs in a safe (provided that there is one). If not, you could just hang the "do not disturb" sign on the outside while you went out for your trip. This will make sure that there is a high chance that your items and room will not be touched (it is a good alternative for people who don't mind their room to be a mess).

5) Planing of trip.
I would say that it is best to plan your trip before hand definitely before you book your hotel room. When it comes to planing trips, it is a nice idea to do research on blogs or forums or travel websites to get the idea of what travellers can do on the area or country. Then, decide on which part of it that you are more likely to go and visit. After doing so, then you go and look for hotels near there and find the one most convenient to you. You wouldn't want to run everywhere on taxi because your hotel is no where near where you want to go, then you would just regret and waste the money for something so troublesome.
You really have to bear in mind that you travelling is to enjoy yourself and not make you stress or tried (unless you are there for business trips).

6) Amount of money needed.
A lot of people have the problem of not bring enough money or way too much money when they travel. So, it is really important to find out how much money you might spent that is unavoidable and how much you would like to spend also how much you will keep as spare.
Those unavoidable expanses would be the travelling fee, entrance fee and meals. Try to find out as much as possible about those fees would cost you. Go and read about them from web pages and blogs regarding the amount then plan a slightly higher amount so that it would be much safer.
Also, when it comes changing currencies, i would suggest that avoiding all the tourist attraction money changer, big and expensive shopping mall money changer. Instead, it is actually good to good to change at the airport (especially Singapore Changi airport). The rates there might be better then those places. Also, it would be great to check if the day that you are changing have a higher rate than other days, this way, you will save more and enjoy more.
